Product Introduction

1,3-propylsulfonic acid lactone is a sulfonic acid ester compound mainly used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical chemistry, and can also be used as an additive in electrolytes.

Application of PST

Surfactants are one of the most powerful and versatile materials used in the chemical industry. Surfactants have been applied in many fields such as detergents, coatings, personal care products, lotion, etc. Compared with traditional small molecule surfactants, macromolecular surfactants show higher surface activity in lotion polymerization, anti-corrosion coatings and other applications, and can play a long-term protective role on the protected interface. At present, only the SyedQutubuddin research group has conducted research on benzoxazine resin based macromolecular surfactants. They synthesized benzoxazine monomers containing carboxyl groups using aliphatic primary amines of different chain lengths as amine sources and p-hydroxybenzoic acid as phenolic sources. Subsequently, these monomers underwent thermal ring opening polymerization and neutralization reactions to obtain macromolecular surfactants containing sodium carboxylate groups. The CN117247517A patent also provides a benzoxazine resin based macromolecular surfactant and its preparation method and application. The specific preparation steps of the surfactant are as follows:

Benzoxazine monomers are obtained by Mannich reaction of unit phenols, unit amines, and aldehydes. The monomers undergo thermal ring opening polymerization to obtain benzooxazine resin, which then reacts with sulfonation reagents under alkaline conditions to obtain benzooxazine resin based macromolecular surfactants.

The unit phenols are p-cresol, 4-ethylphenol, 4-methoxymethyl phenol, 4-nonylphenol, or 4-heptanylphenol.

Unit amines include methylamine, ethylamine, propylamine, n-butylamine, pentamine, n-hexanamine, or p-toluidine.

Aldehydes are formaldehyde aqueous solutions or polyoxymethylene.

The reagents under alkaline conditions are sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide, or tetrabutylammonium hydroxide.

The sulfonation reagents are 1,4-butanesulfonic acid lactone, tetrafluoroethanesulfonic acid lactone, 1,3-propanesulfonic acid lactone, and 1-propenyl-1,3-sulfonic acid lactone.

The present invention utilizes monocyclic benzoxazine monomers to easily and conveniently form polymers and the high reactivity of phenolic hydroxyl and tertiary amine groups in polymers. A new type of benzoxazine resin based macromolecular surfactant is synthesized by introducing sulfonic acid groups into the benzoxazine resin framework. This provides a new approach and approach for the development and application of surfactants such as oil extraction and chemical engineering.
