Application and configuration method of 3-cyclohexylaminopropanesulfonic acid (CAPS)

2021-07-20

3-cyclohexylaminopropanesulfonic acid, CAS number 1135-40-6, molecular formula is C9H19NO3S, referred to as CAPS. It is a biological buffer used in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits and PCR diagnostic kits.

Application of 3-cyclohexylaminopropanesulfonic acid (CAPS)

1. CAPS is used as a biological buffer: CAPS is mainly used in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits and PCR diagnostic kits, as a buffer for enzymatic chemistry and HPLC separation of alkaline drugs. 3-Cyclohexylaminopropane sulfonic acid (CAPS) can also support alkaline phosphatase activity and inhibit the growth of Aeromonas at pH 10.5. It can also be dissolved in deionized water and adjusted to pH 11.0 for fiber Purification of zonulin.

CAPS requires better purity when used as a biological buffer, and generally requires analytical purity. When used in industry, the purity requirements are relatively low, but different treatments must be made for different applications.

2. CAPS is used in industry: for new coatings and new materials, CAPS is also a raw material for manufacturing welding materials, air conditioning equipment and manufacturing metal lithium.

3. Used as analytical reagent, heat exchange carrier, and also in the pharmaceutical industry. For air conditioning, it is also used to make fireworks, dry batteries and metal lithium, and also used as flux and desiccant.

Conventional configuration method of 3-cyclohexylaminopropanesulfonic acid (CAPS)

Since the CAPS buffer is mainly composed of CAPS and deionized water, adjust the pH value with sodium hydroxide to avoid contact with air. Add deionized water to the CAPS to 900ml, adjust the pH to 11.0 with 2mol/L NaOH (about 20ml), then dilute to 1L and store at 4ºC. Generally, a buffer with a high methanol concentration has a good effect on the transfer of low-molecular-weight proteins, while a buffer with a low methanol concentration or even no methanol is beneficial to the transfer of high-molecular-weight proteins. The concentration of methanol in the CAPS electro-imprinting buffer is 0-20%, so the CAPS electro-imprinting buffer is more suitable for the transfer of low molecular weight proteins.
