Biological buffer: The effective buffering range of Tris-HCl is pH 7.0~9.2. It has little interference with biochemical process and does not precipitate with calcium, magnesium and heavy metal ions. And can be composed of a variety of other buffer systems, such as TBST, TE, TAE and TBE, etc.
Surfactant intermediate: The molecular structure of the surfactant is amphipathic. Tris contains three hydroxyl groups and one amino group, which are good hydrophilic groups, so it is an important surfactant intermediate.
Vulcanization accelerator: Tris-based accelerators are used primarily in resins and coatings as hardeners; also in inks for printed circuit boards, electrically insulating materials, resin molds, screen printing coatings, molds, adhesives, linings materials and plastic stabilizers.
Drugs and intermediates: Tris (Tromethamine) is medicine for blood diseases and can be used for acute metabolic acidosis and acute respiratory acidosis. Meanwhile, tromethamine is also intermediates of fosfomycin tromethamine, dexketoprofen tromethamine and other drugs;.
Chemical reductant: Tris acts as a good reducing agent. It can reduce chloroauric acid to prepare relatively stable gold nanoparticles. And the experimental conditions are mild, easy to operate, pollution-free, low toxicity and low cost.
